The 令和9年4月入園 intake: children who start at a licensed nursery (保育園) on 1 April 2027. Dates, rounds and how to apply, as the ward published them.

Round 1 at a glance. It covers private nurseries, for children entering the 1-year-old to 5-year-old classes. The ward published its opening numbers on 16 October.
- 1-year-old class: apply from 17 October (online only until 31 October).
- 2- to 5-year-old classes: apply from 1 November.
- Everyone in round 1: documents must arrive by Tuesday 10 November 2026. Results by post on 18 December.
Classes are set by your child's age on 1 April, not the day they start. A child born in January 2026, for example, will be in the 1-year-old class in April 2027. The ward's own wording is the “class age in the new year” (新年度のクラス年齢). Not sure which class? Enter the birthday on the Edogawa page.

- Saturday 19 December to Friday 25 December 2026If you miss round 1, apply here. Anything handed in from Saturday 26 December goes to the final adjustment.

- Online, or by post, or in person: Edogawa Ward Office main building, 5th floor, rooms 501 and 502, 10:00–17:00 on 19 and 20 December, or at your first-choice nursery 9:30–16:00 (not Sunday 20 December).Evening counter hours at the main building have been discontinued because online applications have grown.

New nurseries opening in 2027
8 new licensed nurseries open in April 2027, and one certified centre (Regina Kindergarten) opens in July 2027. All of them are on the vacancies page with the ward's printed address.
- New nurseries have no building yet, so the ward's counter does accept their applications in round 1.
- Three of them run only to the 2-year-old class and have no linked school: Funabori Chuo annex, Annon Mizue, and Kagayaki Baby Edogawa Hongo. A child who gets a place still has to apply again for the 3-year-old class.
- Regina Kindergarten opens in July 2027. Its briefings are planned for mid-March to April 2027, and applications from mid-April. The ward will announce details later.
- Several briefing sessions are already full. Check the ward's new-facility page for each nursery's sessions and phone number.
Before you apply
- The ward asks you to attend a nursery's briefing, or get an explanation of its approach, before you apply.
- A nursery showing 0 openings can still be applied for. Places sometimes open up after the numbers are published.

- Your points score decides who gets a place. The Edogawa page has an admission index calculator.
- Medical-care and disability places (医療的ケア児枠・障害児枠) are assessed child by child. The nurseries that hold them are listed on the vacancies page.
